MEET THE AMAZING ALICE

A Sweet Surprise

Meet Alice. Puppy extraordinaire. Lover of bushes. Naughtiness expert. Sweetness personified. Alice has been with us since three weeks after our beloved Rosie died of cancer. Our hearts have much room and we have made room for another fur kid; however, it's been 16 years since we had a puppy, and we were not quite prepared for all the puppy shenanigans. We are learning fast!

Alice came to us when she was 3 months old after having been fostered by our groomer for many weeks. She had been brought in to a local vet at 8 weeks old covered with paint and suffering from the toxicity of it. The vet saved her and asked Michelle if she would foster her and find a home for her. Thus, the Garners step in and adopt their 7th dog together.

Since then, Alice has gotten into all kinds of trouble. So far, she has entertained herself by doing the following:

  • chewed up all but two coasters in the living room
  • destroyed my glasses and my sunglasses
  • chewed up her toy basket itself
  • ate the leaves of the peace lily plant in the living room
  • dragged out and chewed up Van's house slippers several times
  • chewed his loafers and ruined them
  • selected several shells from the dish of shells we collected from all over the world and crunched them
  • dragged the blanket from the ottoman all over the house
  • dragged kitchen hand towel off the hanger and takes it all over the house
  • dragged the toilet paper roll off the holder in the master bathroom and unrolled it all over the house before chewing the paper roll up - four times so far
  • barks at herself in the mirror and windows
  • reaches up and drags paper towel rolls all over the house - two times so far
  • chewed extension cord under night stand
  • chewed up foam inside heating pad
  • dragged two kleenex boxes off bedside table to floor and removed the kleenex and chewed the box
  • chewed and ruined my white leather flip flops
  • dragged green "dog towel" all over the house
  • chewed up my calendar book (fortunately it was in the last week before I changed to new one)
  • chewed up three-four books from way back on shelf of night stand
  • chewed the zippers of all couch and loveseat cushions and removed the stuffing
  • chewed up two of Van's running hats
  • chewed up remote control for TV
  • chewed up Van's ATM card
  • chewed up fireplace matches
  • chewed up several baskets in living room
  • chewed up the zipper on my navy blue track jacket which I had to replace
  • chewed up my purse
  • chewed hole in neck heating pack
  • chewed up bathroom rugs and toilet seat cover
  • chewed up Schnauzer blanket.
All of the above chewed items are now up on furniture where she can't reach them. We hope.

She does endear herself, though, in many ways. She is loving, likes to cuddle, loves to play tug-of-war, fetches, and learns quickly. She already knows how to sit, lie down, and turn around.

We can see that this will, indeed, be an adventure with her, and we are looking forward to all she brings to us. May she be healthy and happy.
